Obituary of Rachel Lynn Brown Bambas

BAMBAS, Rachel Lynn (Brown), 25, passed away after a long illness in Mt. Juliet, TN on September 26, 2015. Rachel was born in Lebanon, TN on June 12, 1990 and spent most of her life in Lebanon and Mt. Juliet. Rachel was an active member of the German Club and Debate Team while attending Mt. Juliet High School. She was also a member of the Marine Corps JROTC program for three years and a member of the girls’ rifle drill team. Rachel competed with the Drill Team in the National Competition at Daytona Beach her Senior year and received the Scottish Rite Award for her loyalty and duty to the JROTC program. After graduation, Rachel was offered scholarships to Clemson, Texas A&M, and Auburn Universities. Ultimately, she chose a scholarship at Idaho State University to study Nuclear Engineering. While there, Rachel became an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After marrying her sweetheart in the Nashville Temple of the LDS Church, she transferred to Brigham Young University. At the time of Rachel’s passing, she had continued to work towards her Bachelor’s degree through online studies. Rachel is survived by her husband, Alexander Bambas, son of K.J and Karen Bambas of Lebanon. Alex is currently serving in the United States Army in Fort Bragg, NC. Rachel is also survived by her parents, Anthony (Tony) Brown and Nancy L. Brown (McCrary) of Mt. Juliet. She also has a beloved older brother, Brett Brown of Hermitage. Rachel is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, the late Kay and James McCrary of Lebanon. She is survived by her paternal grandmother, Betty Bowers of Fulton, KY. In addition, she leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Erika (Clayton) Cravath, Taylor (Derek) Rosecrans, Heather Bambas, Faith Bambas and two nieces and a nephew whom she cherished. She also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends all over the country. Condolences may be sent to the family via Sellars Funeral Home (2229 N Mt Juliet Rd, Mt Juliet, TN 37122) where the visitation will be Wednesday, Sept 30th from 4-8pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1st at 11am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1004 Woodridge Place, Mt. Juliet.
