Obituary of Lane Toby Steele

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of "Toby" Lane Steele on April 15, 2024. Toby was born to Larry and Norma Steele on May 25, 1964, on a naval base in Subic Bay, which is located on the west coast of the island of Luzon in the Philippines. His passion for playing music brought a light into this world that will continue to shine on forever.

Toby was preceded in death by his father, Larry Steele, his aunt and uncle, Ida and Bob, and his best friend, Ernie Aguilar. He is survived by his mother, Norma Steele; his siblings, Steven (Tracy) Steele, Glenn Steele, Wendy (Essam) Hanito; his children, Oliver (Rona) Steele, Savannah (Bryan Powers) Steele, Holly (Will) Lawson, Hunter Lawson; grandchildren, Ryder, Walker, Bryson; and numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is survived by a close family friend, Gary Johnson, and his companion, Marilee Paulson, and her son, Landon. 

Toby always held his gift for music near and dear to his heart, knowing that it had the power to touch the lives of many. His love of music was evident in every aspect of his life, and it seemed to be sprinkled everywhere he went. Toby was not only a lover of music but also an avid guitar collector. He was a talented singer-songwriter and musician who poured his heart and soul into every performance. He had a true passion for all types of music, and it was evident in the way he played and sang. In addition to music, Toby loved food and was a true foodie at heart. He enjoyed exploring new cuisines and finding new restaurants to try. He was always eager to share his latest culinary discoveries with his family and friends.

Toby was also an avid fisherman who loved to spend time on the water. He found peace and tranquility in the stillness of the water and enjoyed the thrill of the catch. Above all else, Toby was a friend to everyone and a stranger to none. He was always willing to lend an ear, offer a kind word, or lend a helping hand. He touched the lives of so many people, and he will be deeply missed.

The light and soul that Toby put into his music will ensure that his legacy continues to live on. His passion and dedication to his craft will inspire those around him for generations to come, breathing life into this world. Toby always believed that music and family were the two most important things in life, and his legacy will continue to prove this to be true.

Memorial visitation will be conducted May 1, 2024 12:00pm at Providence Church.
